Australia: Industry stalwart Ian Ross played a key role in the Western Australia pro A/V market until his retirement in 2011, first establishing Rossound Hire, followed by Audio Source, which over the years represented the likes of Electro-Voice, Neutrik, ARX and Dynacord. He is, however, keeping busy with a range of projects, including his work as a director at
Hands Across The World, a not-for-profit organisation established in 2013 to make quality education available to combat combat atrocities such as human trafficking, forced labour and sexual exploitation.
Mr Ross and the Hands Across The World Team are currently raising money for the children of Cambodia by taking part in The Chevron City to Surf fun run in Perth on Sunday 26th August. ‘Our fun way to help raise money for the children of Cambodia, and in particular around Siem Reap, is to participate in City to Surf to help these kids to get out of child prostitution, slave labour and working in the paddy fields,’ said Mr Ross. ‘One in six children around the world between the ages of five and 14 is forced into child labour!
‘We don’t give them a handout, but a “hand up” through education, and in particular through our
Interactive Teacher Training Programme, for dedicated and determined teachers who cannot afford any further studies due to the remoteness of their village, poverty and/or marginalisation. Our next 30 week programme commences later this year at a cost of over AUS$35,000, so we are in urgent need of funds.’
Pro AVL Asia parent company Blank Canvas Publish has donated to the cause and encourages others to do the same. If you would like to donate towards the fun run, visit the team's
