Formosa Hakka FM 93.7 employs Dante


Formosa Hakka FM 93.7 has upgraded its signal transmission system with the inclusion of a Dante link between the recording studio and control room. As part of this setup, a Unika NBB-1616 16x16 break-in/break-out box has been installed at each end to bi-directionally stream multi-channel audio between the studio and control room. These were installed by VTek Engineering.

When VTek director Tevia Chang tested the NBB-1616 systems installed at Formosa Hakka FM 93.7, he decided to replace the station’s original multi-track transmission system, replacing the analogue multi-track cable with two Cat-5e cables to connect two NBB-1616 networked break in/out boxes.

‘Because the NBB-1616 offers an automatic pairing function, the Dante Controller software was not needed in this instance,’ said Mr Chang. ‘The replacement of the old system was very fast. Using computers with the Dante Virtual Soundcard and DAW software, radio stations can be upgraded directly from live studios to multi-track recording studios quickly.’
