TASCAM showcases new Series products

Japan:

In light of the Series portfolio launch by TASCAM, an event showcasing the new Series 8p Dyna mic preamp, Series 102i and 208i interfaces was held at Ochanomizu Rittor Base, a multipurpose audio room established by Rittor Music in Japan. This was targeted at musicians, engineers and content creators to help them understand how to use these new products.

The event featured guests Wataru Sawabe and Toshihiko Kasai, who gave the audience a recording session performance. The setup included a TASCAM TM-Drums mic set, a Neumann U 87 Ai and KM 184 for the acoustic guitar and a Sennheiser BF 541 and Audio-Technica AT 4081 for the electric guitar. The TASCAM TM-280 was used to record the vocals. This was all played by Sawabe, with Kasai recording the tracks via Pro Tools and editing them with the use of the settings panel on the TASCAM driver.

‘It truly sounds natural,’ said Kasai. ‘I mean, I thought of using some plug-ins with the internal mixer to process and colour the sound but, in the end, I just used the one-knob compressor on Series 8p Dyna just a bit. With that little amount of colouring, the sound had a core and a slight thickness of warmth that made it sound as if it had been recorded in a professional studio. I think both devices have a lot of potential and they capture both high and low frequencies, even with different instruments, very well.’

Yosuke Matsuno, general manager of TASCAM sales, commented: ‘I’m very glad that many people, from media companies to end users, attended this event held to announce our newest and first single mic preamp, and promote the new concept of Series interfaces. I think the process of carefully listening to the recorded sound while checking the live, natural sound of each instrument and voice really confirmed and showed the high performance of Series mic preamps and AD conversion. With its high audio specs and expandability functions, I think this product is really the best option for customers seeking higher levels in sound production.’
