Beijing Television turns to Lawo for EFP equipment


Beijing Television (BTV) recently invested in its first IP equipment by Lawo for its Electronic Field Production (EFP) requirements. This is the second installation in China to use the Lawo mc² series.

For its first IP mobile EFP system, a third-generation 32-fader mc² production console was purchased with 288 DSP channels as the main desk, with an mc²36 all-in-one console with 16 faders as a backup, five A_mic8 and seven A_digital8 AoIP stageboxes. The mc²36 console was provided with 512 x 512, while the mc²56 included 8196 x 8196 routing capacity. This also included router boards and integrated Waves SoundGrid, which supplied MADI and IP Ravenna/AES67 compatible interfaces.

The move to EFP was after China Central Television (CCTV) created an all-IP production environment with the instalment of three IP-based Lawo mc² consoles. Both system integrations were run by Lawo’s partner NDT. It designed the system with a spine-leaf IP switch network that included a couple of Cisco switches.
