Australia:

Any Entertainment, a production company specialising in touring, events and installations, added an RCF HDL 20-A active line array speaker setup to its inventory for use on mid-to-large live music and corporate event productions. The company, based in Coffs Harbour, purchased the setup from RCF distributor Group Technologies.

The setup comprises 12 HDL20-As as well as four SUB-8006 dual 18-inch and four SUB-8004 single 18-inch subwoofers. They are mostly put to work on indoor concerts and outdoor festivals with audiences of more than 1,000 people.

‘With the HDL modules, there’s always enough power, no matter the gig,’ said Nathan Holding, production manager at Any Entertainment. ‘In fact, I don’t think we’ve ever seen the protection limiter LED trigger. We recently had the system set up for Australian electronic duo Peking Duk in front of 2,000 people, and while we did add two extra 8006 subs, we found the system still had plenty of headroom to spare.’

The power-to-weight ratio of the HDL series has also impressed Holding. ‘It’s certainly great having a powerful PA, but the real advantage for us here is the low weight and compact format. We can fit the whole system into a single Pantech-style truck. Logistically that just can’t be beaten.

‘Depending on client requirements, we can build up two entirely separate systems for different uses at the one event and because it’s an active system, there’s no need to split amp racks. You just roll out what you need and quickly connect it. When acts bring their own engineers to mix on our system, they’re usually happy when they see what they’re working with. It’s a setup many have used before and one that they trust.’
