Adam Hall Group opts out of Prolight + Sound due to Covid-19

The Adam Hall Group has opted to no longer exhibit at this year’s Prolight + Sound fair in Frankfurt due to the spread of the Covid-19 virus throughout Europe. The group, which includes brands such as Adam Hall, Cameo Lighting and LD Systems, and typically occupies one of the largest booths at Messe Frankfurt, states that its decision ‘is following the most recent preventive recommendations from the health authorities for responsible protection of employees, partners and trade show visitors’.

‘We have been an integral part of the music trade show Prolight + Sound for 38 years,’ commented Adam Hall Group CEO Alexander Pietschmann. ‘Every year we look forward to meeting our partners and customers in Frankfurt am Main and being able to present our latest innovations. But an entertainment trade show needs a certain sense of fun that is so essential to our industry as a whole. Ongoing concerns and precautionary measures associated with the Covid-19 virus mean that this light-heartedness isn't possible in light of the latest developments. We have made this difficult decision because we attach great importance to the safety and wellbeing of our employees, business partners and end user as well as media partners.’

Such a major exhibitor cancelling its appearance at Prolight + Sound will fuel speculation as to whether the show itself will be postponed. Organiser Messe Frankfurt announced this week that it was rescheduling its Light + Building exhibition, originally due to take place from 8-13 March at the same location, to some time in September.

When asked for comment, Messe Frankfurt provided the following statement: ‘There are no plans to postpone Prolight + Sound. We shall continue to be in regular, close contact with the specialists in the relevant authorities and will follow their advice and implement all recommendations in full. As organisers, our top priority is the health of our exhibitors, visitors and staff. Quite apart from the current situation, the safety and security regulations at the exhibition centre are of an extremely high standard, and we have extended them even further in the last few weeks. So, for instance, we have increased the cleaning schedules for heavily frequented areas such as entrances, door handles and escalator handrails, and additional disinfectant dispensers have been distributed across the exhibition centre. In spite of all the challenges, we are looking forward to sharing a successful and inspiring show with you, and to celebrating the 25th anniversary of Prolight + Sound in style.’

In lieu of highlighting its latest products at Prolight + Sound, the Adam Hall Group will present a livestream on its website, showcasing several solutions from its portfolio. The ‘virtual trade show’ will begin at 10:00am CET on 31 March at www.adamhall.com/virtualtradeshow.
