Design studio 250K and The Art of Light have teamed up to create and commission the Beehive concept in Club Beehive, a new nightclub in Shanghai. In its honeycomb interior, Marco, lighting designer at The Art of Light, set up several Ayrton lighting fixtures to add richness and variety to the design of the nightclub’s interior.

Ayrton was chosen due to its LED engine, colours and gobo package. A total of 61 Mistral-S LED fixtures were installed between the hexagons to use as an effects spot. These were chosen as they had a high output, were small and intense and came with several features. To act as the key lights for the DJ booth and headline acts, three Bora-S wash fixtures were installed to enhance the rest of the lighting effects and combat the output from the LED screens. Additionally, 23 Khamsin-S profile spots were chosen for the décor and special effects lighting across the dancefloor. These were also used for the backlight from the floor and were also installed underneath the curved LED screen. The Khamsin-S spots were chosen due to their high output and big zoom range.

‘I really like the full range of Ayrton fixtures as they are all equipped with a good-quality LED engine, which provides very neat, fresh, rich visual images and looks and works specifically well for the look and feel within the dance scene,’ Marco commented. ‘The whole range works both aesthetically and performance-wise. I like the consistency of the look and feel of the fixtures, which also keeps the rig looking really clean.’
