SoundTube’s Mighty Mite packs a punch at Nesco’s food court
Nesco Limited, an Indian company with interests in various industrial sectors, is known for its focus on value, comfort and style. Among its several businesses, the Nesco Realty division's IT Park is a landmark facility housing leading multinationals such as HSBC, KPMG, and PWC, among others. Within this facility, the IT4 complex has set a high bar for intelligent design as well as sustainability and low energy-use.
A highlight of the IT4 complex is a lounge known as the Dress Circle. This art-deco inspired food court, located on the ground floor of the North Tower, is an evolving hub that caters to over 4,000 daily visitors with social events and dedicated themed nights. It’s a place to network, dance and celebrate with global food and Nesco's in-house brands.
Despite the appeal of the Dress Circle, Nesco was facing some challenges in elevating the visitor experience. The primary issue was the acoustics and audio quality in the space, which is 38.1m x 16.8m x 9.1m (LxWxH). Additional challenges included a glass front façade, the need for the audio system to blend with existing interiors and a prohibition against alterations to the civil structure.
The new audio solution needed to be aesthetically pleasing, deliver clear sound across the large venue and blend into the existing décor without structural alterations. Nesco consulted with Milind Raorane from Soundframe, and his team worked with Mitul Soni, techno commercial lead India for SoundTube. The key audio product selected was one of SoundTube's NextGen Pendants – The Mighty Mite – a three-way hanging speaker with built-in subwoofers.
The Mighty Mite is a full-range pendant speaker with a built-in subwoofer, eliminating the need to install a separate subwoofer and subwoofer amplifier. Using EASE simulation reports, SoundTube identified the best locations to hang the Mighty Mite to offer optimal sound quality.
The installation process was said to be straightforward, thanks to the included safety cables and SpeedClamp brackets. For audio delivery, six MM43-BGM Mighty Mite speakers were used in conjunction with a 4x250W power amplifier, a digital speaker management system and an audio mixer for source input.
“We are pleasantly surprised with how the Mighty Mite pendants blend in with our existing decor and are able to deliver lifelike music and crystal-clear speech across the venue,” said Sasidharan Nair, senior VP, projects and engineering. "SoundTube Entertainment is truly remarkable in its endeavour to make innovative products for the most demanding locations which help solve real-life problems.”
