Flying high for LED installation
Flying high for LED installation
As its first ever ceiling-mountable dvLED wall, the entry-level Philips Public LED 5000 Series from PPDS is hoping to literally elevate viewing experiences for its customers. The series is the first in a line of elementary direct view LED products designed for indoor public spaces like retail stores, shopping centres, corporate spaces and offices, museums and more. Adaptable to both traditional wall-mounted environments and ceiling mounts, the entry-level series is designed as an option for companies looking to introduce or replace existing LCD screens with dvLED.
Available in 44-inch (500mm x 1000mm) and 28-inch (500mm x 500mm) panel variants, the Philips Public LED 5000 Series offers a choice of modules with three different pixel pitches and dimensions of 1.9pp (128x128), 2.5pp (100x100) and 3.9pp (64x64). They deliver up to 500 nit brightness and 150° viewing angles for flat screen or concave creations. For maximum flexibility, both the 44- and 28-inch panel variants are interchangeable and, together with PPDS’s Smart Rotation design, can be installed in a mix of either portrait or landscape modes to provide more size and custom install opportunities. PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays, says this approach can help significantly reduce the square metre costs for installations by up to 40%. It claims that installation time can also be reduced by around 50% compared to conventional LED panels, with board-to-board design of the LED modules to the panel incorporating pre-wired data and power for a cable-free setup. Cabinets can also be daisy-chained for both power and data.
IP20-rated, the series is PPDS’s first LED system to support both wall-mountable and ceiling-fixed hoisting installations, with dedicated connection plates and a range of hoisting/hanging bars that allow displays to be hoisted from a ceiling to a maximum display height of 5m. For added reliability and protection, the Philips Public LED 5000 Series’ diecast aluminium cabinets help to ensure precise installation and a seamless canvas, as well as enhancing heat dissipation.
